evaluation

I believe that my performance throughout this FMP has been mostly good apart from some minor problems with things like editing, filming and pre production. To be more specific I have struggled choosing the correct and most appropriate camera angles, I have also had some issues when it came to editing like how I did not know how to make an intro and credits but now I do. At the beginning of my pre production I had very little idea of what I was doing and because of that I wasted a lot of time that could’ve been put to good use.

I think my final product properly grasps the idea of a day in the life of Samuel and William Steeples and how there whole situation means they have to change certain aspects of their lives. I believe if someone watched the documentary they would feel as if they are much better at spotting autism in young children and being able to deal with that child much better than before watching the documentary.

I tried to maintain professionalism through out the project by seriously considering every decision I made no matter how small and tried to think what would happen if i made the decision so that I knew everything that could go wrong and how to prevent it, for example Joe wanted to get some footage of the twins playing in the garden but I knew that we couldn’t rely on the weather because it could be raining or it could be too windy and then we wouldn’t have been able to use the audio from those shots. I also took editing and filming very seriously because I know I can’t afford to mess up some footage because I would have to wait until we had another opportunity to film and the twins might to be available or could’ve had a haircut by then which would have made the twins sometimes have short hair and sometimes have long hair.

I think my project is good because its unique in our class and when we asked people if they’d be interested in watching a documentary about twins with different levels of autism and what a day in the life of them would be like. It could have more shots and some narration that wasn’t taken during the interview just to explain what was happening.

I could have improved this project by making it more factual and adding statistics but that could’ve made it less personal and that is why I didn’t do it. when I was editing I thought about doing a voice over but I felt that their mothers voice ( Maxine Steeples ) would make it more personal because she can say the most about the twins because they’re her children. we could have also interviewed a specialist so that we could have a professional opinion and explanation.

From the project I learned how to properly edit videos adding in an introduction and a series of credits at the end. I have also learned how to light up a room so that the person who is being interviewed is centred and there are objects in the shot that don’t pull focus but make the viewer have a sense of depth.
