The results I got from the survey I created included “do you know anyone with autism” 100% of the people that I asked this question to confirmed that they do know someone with autism, this told me that autism is much more common than people think. The next question I asked was “have you ever heard of the spectrum”, 85% of the people said yes, the spectrum is Autism spectrum, also known as autism spectrum disorder, it is a range of mental disorders of the Neurodevelopment type. … Individuals on the spectrum often present with problems with social communication and interaction; and restricted, repetitive patterns of behaviour, interests or activities. But 15% of the people who answered this question did not know what this was. After that question, the next one I asked was “can you tell if someone has autism” 34% of the people that answered the question said no, but the other 65% said you can tell if someone has autism. An adult with mild symptoms, who is towards the higher functioning range of the autism spectrum, may: Have difficulties with social interactions. Avoid making eye contact. Not understand nonverbal facial or body gestures, such as frowning or shrugging, this would be the only way that a person would be able to tell if someone had autism. The last question I asked on my survey was “would you watch a documentary on autism” 100% of the people who answered said they would watch one.
